For learning to be effective, we believe it should closely relate to the real world and contemporary issues, and be open to the rich resources in our community. In this way, students build experiences that help them think across traditional subject boundaries.
It’s why teaching and learning at Seaton High School occurs within and across five learning nodes:
All requirements of the Australian Curriculum (SA Curriculum) and the SACE are covered.
Emphasis is placed on nurturing each student’s ability to draw upon transferable skills, and supporting them in finding their place in, and acting on, the world around them.
As an Entrepreneurial Specialist School, students are also encouraged to develop the five elements of an entrepreneurial mindset:
A structured ‘Independent Learning Program’ supports the development of students as effective independent learners who have the skills and confidence to take charge of their learning and, ultimately, their own lives.
Each week, specialist music staff visit the school to provide tuition. This has typically included drums, electric guitar, bass guitar and voice.
Students in years 10 to 12 who are studying music as a subject are required to participate in the Instrumental Music program.
Delivering national vocational qualifications endorsed by industry, VET programs may be undertaken in year 11 or 12 as part of a student’s SACE, and may be delivered by Seaton High School, in partnership with other schools, at TAFE or at other registered training organisations.
